چکیده

The present work explores for the first time additive manufacturing of powder mixtures consisting Chromium Nitride (Cr2N) and AISI 316L with laser bed fusion (L-PBF). addition 2.5 wt% Cr2N to an resulted in successful dissolution both chromium nitrogen into a fully austenitic stainless steel microstructure. content was augmented from 0.09 as-delivered 0.31 L-PBF built part, causing slight expansion austenite lattice. Elongated grains internal cellular substructure were obtained modified specimens manufactured by L-PBF. (and chromium) Vickers hardness increase about 40 HV0.1, mainly interstitial solid solution strengthening. modification significantly improved corrosion resistance. resistance while retaining manufacturability microstructure illustrate potential modifying composition properties targeted dosing powders.

Functionalization of Biomedical Ti6Al4V via In Situ Alloying by Cu during Laser Powder Bed Fusion Manufacturing

The modern medical industry successfully utilizes Laser Powder Bed Fusion (LPBF) to manufacture complex custom implants. Ti6Al4V is one of the most commonly used biocompatible alloys. In surgery practice, infection at the bone-implant interface is one of the key reasons for implant failure. Therefore, advanced implants with biocompatibility and antibacterial properties are required. Modificatio...

Mechanical Properties of Boronized AISI 316, AISI 1040, AISI 1045 and AISI 4140 Steels

In this study, some mechanical properties of borided and unborided four steels were investigated. Boronizing of steels was performed by powder pack method at 1210 K for 4 h. The hardness of borides, boride layer thickness and room temperature tensile properties were measured and it was observed that hardness and tensile properties strongly depend on chemical composition of steels. In addition, ...

PHASE TRANSFORMATION DURING WEAR OF AISI STAINLESS STEEL 316

Abstract: Austenitic stainless steels exhibit a low hardness and weak tribological properties. The wear behaviour of austenitic stainless steel AISI 316 was evaluated through the pin on disc tribological method. For investigating the effect of wear on the changes in microstructure and resistance to wear, optical microscopy and scanning electron microscope were used. The hardness of the worn...

The Enhancement of Mg Corrosion Resistance by Alloying Mn and Laser-Melting

Mg has been considered a promising biomaterial for bone implants. However, the poor corrosion resistance has become its main undesirable property. In this study, both alloying Mn and laser-melting were applied to enhance the Mg corrosion resistance. The corrosion resistance, mechanical properties, and microstructure of rapid laser-melted Mg-xMn (x = 0-3 wt %) alloys were investigated. The alloy...

Laser Penetration in a Powder Bed during Selective Laser Sintering of Metal Powders: Simulations versus Experiments

To gain a better understanding and control of the Selective Laser Sintering (SLS) process, more fundamental and modeling work is needed. A simple analytical ray-tracing model has been developed to simulate the energy absorption and penetration in SLS. The model is applied to FeCu and WC-Co powder mixtures, irradiated by Nd-YAG or CO2 laser. It gives an evaluation of the total energy incoupling ...
